Nonnewisen

An affordable housing complex has been built on the Nonnewisen site in Esch-sur-Alzette.

In temporary association with the MARS Group architectural firm as design office, a new affordable housing complex has been built on the Nonnewisen site, a fast-growing district in Esch-sur-Alzette.

The project comprises a variety of housing types: 17 semi-detached wooden houses, 9 concrete-built houses and 19 apartments with 2 to 3 bedrooms. The various buildings are linked by a pedestrian area that runs alongside the private gardens. A small retail/restaurant area is located on the first floor near the main entrance and a public square.

The first floor of the entire complex houses a bicycle room and a parking lot, formed by openings to the outside, which visually lighten the concept. A second parking lot is located on the 1st basement level. The concept includes the possibility of recharging up to 96 electric cars.

The project features prefabricated wood structures, ventilated facades, rockwool insulation and windows with wood joinery and triple-glazed aluminum cladding. The green roof is part of a sustainable approach.
