Rosentiel Center

The Centre Rosenstiel is located in the heart of Luxembourg's upper town, on the main commercial thoroughfare, the Grand-Rue, and is linked to the Rue Philippe II by a passageway leading to the Rue Beck.

The Grand-Rue/Rue Philippe II corner building comprises four storeys and an attic. It is built in a typical 1910 iron structure, with large windows and typical decorative elements. It is followed by a solid three-storey building with attic space, located on Rue Philippe II. This is where Jaques Rosenstiel opened his store in 1938.

In 1968, the commercial premises were extended to the Grand-Rue/Philippe II corner building. In 1990, the two buildings were completely refurbished and converted into a shopping mall. This concept, with its interior escalators and spacious but small shopping arcades, hadn’t really proved its worth, so in 1997 it was time for a new conversion.

In this context, the retail space was extended towards Rue Beck by a new building, the first floor of which was equipped with a passageway linking Rue Beck to Rue Philippe II. The commercial complex is complemented by offices and residential units.

In 2014, the new owner decided to optimize the existing surfaces and their use. The connecting passageway has been removed so that the entire surface can be used for commercial purposes. The second floor has also been converted into retail space. The four-storey tower in the inner courtyard will be demolished and replaced by a two-storey passageway. Here, access to the commercial areas on the first and second floors is via an escalator. In addition, all the apartments are being converted and refurbished.
